If you are at least 1.5 kilometres away from a Blue-bike location, you can make use of Ethias\u2019s free fiets breakdown assistance. Read below to find out how and when you can use it.<\/p><h3>When can I make use of Ethias assistance?<\/h3><p>In the event of a fault with the Blue-bike resulting from a road traffic accident or a mechanical breakdown, Ethias Assistance will organise and pay for the towing of the bicycle and the cyclist\u2019s return to the local Blue-bike location when:<\/p><ul><li>you are in Belgium with your Blue-bike,<\/li><li>you are at least 1.5 km away from the Blue-bike location,<\/li><li>you are prevented by a defect (mechanical or electrical) from continuing to drive safely (such as a puncture, lighting failing,...)<\/li><li>you are involved in an accident and the Blue-bike is faulty.<\/li><\/ul><p>If you have sustained serious injuries requiring hospitalisation, the costs for transport to the hospital and subsequent return home are covered by Ethias, provided that a medical certificate is submitted.<\/p><p><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>You can only use the assistance service if you can prove that you are actually using the bike at that moment (i.e. the bike is on loan or there is an active journey in the app).<\/li><li>When calling the Ethias assistance service for recovery, you must remain present at the Blue-bike yourself.<\/li><li>Ethias no longer provides financial intervention if the return of the Blue-bike or yourself has been done by someone else.<\/li><\/ul><h3>How can I make use of Ethias assistance?<\/h3><p>Call Ethias up <strong>011\/ 28 28 28<\/strong> (of <strong>+32 4 220 3040<\/strong> for a French-speaking service) and state the following details:<\/p><ul><li>the fiets number (located at the rear of the mudguard)<\/li><li>your first name and surname<\/li><li>location of the accident or breakdown<\/li><li>description of the accident or breakdown<\/li><li>your mobile number<\/li><\/ul><p>Send an email afterwards to <a href=\"mailto:info@blue-bike.be\"><strong>info@blue-bike.be<\/strong><\/a> so that we can close your open journey.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><\/main>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Home &rsaquo; Pech onderweg Pech onderweg Heb je pech met een Blue-bike?
