How to rent a
cargo bike
Good to know
Before you leave
A cargo bike handles differently from a regular bicycle. Take your time to get used to it and adjust your speed and assistance to suit your load.
- You must be at least 18 years old .
- A bicycle helmet is not compulsory, but it is recommended.
- Fold in the leg until you hear a click .
- Always park on a flat and stable surface.
- Max. 10 kg in the rear basket
- End your ride at the same location as where you departed.
The display
Everything at a glance
Via the display you keep an eye on your speed, battery level, support level and remaining range. With button 2 on the back you switch between the variable information.

Range
How far do you get?
The range depends on the level of assistance, the weight of the load and rider, the terrain and the wind. The table below gives an indication based on battery level and assistance; in practice, this may vary.

All about the cargo bike
All active cargo bike locations can be found in the Blue-bike app, recognisable by a separate cargo bike pin.
No. In the app you can see which cargo bikes are currently available.
No. With your selected Blue-bike formula you can rent city bikes, e-bikes and cargo bikes. With Member Plus you pay the same rate for a cargo bike as a Member.
No. The ride can only be ended at the location where you picked up the cargo bike.
No, that is currently not possible.
We are starting the roll-out in Leuven and will evaluate the usage extensively. There are no current plans for other locations.
