Blue-bike lands at Brussels Airport

Blue-bike at Brussels Airport

Sustainable mobility is taking off

From 1 July 2025, Brussels Airport employees can use Blue-bike for their daily journeys at the airport.

With five strategically located sites, Blue-bike is bringing a sustainable mobility solution to one of Belgium's largest economic hubs.

An airport like a small town

Brussels Airport has more than 30,000 employees spread across 335 companies. Every day, thousands of short journeys are made between terminals, offices, warehouses and logistic zones.

For distances of up to around six kilometres, the bike is often the fastest and most efficient solution.

Five locations, maximum flexibility

The pilot project comprises:

  • 5 Blue-bike locations
  • 26 cityfietsen
  • 22 circular e-bikes
  • a back-to-many zone at the airport

Users can collect a bike at one location and return it to another location within the airport grounds.

Part of a broader sustainability vision

The collaboration forms part of Stargate, a European innovation programme that is part of the European Green Deal.

Together with Brussels Airport Company, the Province of Flemish Brabant and other partners, work is being done on sustainable mobility solutions that improve the quality of life and accessibility of the airport.

Ready for take-off

With this project, Blue-bike proves that shared mobility not only belongs at stations or in city centres, but can also play an important role on business parks, campuses and airports.
